Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Jazz Orchestra

The Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Jazz Orchestra (TWYJO) is a 17-piece ensemble comprising some of the most talented young jazz musicians aged 14-21 years.

The orchestra is resident at Southbank Centre, London as part of the Tomorrow's Warriors at Southbank Centre weekend residency. Under the direction of Artistic Director Gary Crosby OBE, their sensational performances at the Southbank Centre have led to invitations to perform at the 2011 Music For Youth National Festival in Birmingham and the Primary Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and are rapidly gaining them a reputation for being the coolest, hardest swinging youth jazz orchestra in the country.

About Tomorrow's Warriors

Tomorrow's Warriors is a leading UK organisation for jazz music education and professional artist development. We are a multicultural organisation with a special, though not exclusive focus on young musicians from the African diaspora.

The company is a weekend resident at Southbank Centre, London and an Associate Artist of Turner Sims Concert Hall, Southampton delivering a unique programme comprising learning and participation, artist development, and professional performances. In addition to our core programmes, we offer a range of bespoke music education programmes in schools, arts venues and community centres across the UK and internationally.

From the Youth Music blog, 25 August 2011:

Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Jazz Orchestra brought our summer season of Spitalfields Pop Up Performances to a close with an infectiously swinging set that halted shoppers and passers-by in their tracks. In case you missed it we've got more of our trademark 'shakycam' videos to share with you. Do not adjust your set.

Audience members at London's Spitalfields were wowed by the 20 piece youth jazz orchestra, aged between 15 and 19.  Involuntary foot tapping and uncontrollable head nodding were unanimous as the crowds lapped up a programme of Duke Ellington standards.

Here's just a snippet of a storming performance that sadly marked the end of our summer Pop Up Performances. *sniff*
