NOTION Music

NOTION Music was founded in 1998 by Jack Jarrett (Professor of Composition and Conducting, Berklee College of Music) as a notation software company with an emphasis on sound quality, ease of use and performance.

Sound Quality 
Our sounds are those of the London Symphony Orchestra and a Steinway piano - recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios. We have also sampled thousands of real electric and acoustic guitar, bass and drum samples from world-renowned artists.

Ease of Use
With the release of NOTION3 in September 2009, we completely changed our user interface - making it (what we believe) is the simplest notation programme to use in the world.  

Performance
Our performance capabilities have been recognised internationally with use of our Ntempo feature. Using this, you can completely control the tempo of any music.

We have three main products as well as three iPad apps. These are: NOTION3, PROGRESSION and NOTION Conducting. All our main programmes can be used on Windows and Apple Mac and we also sell site licenses.

Our iPad apps are: PROGRESSION free, PROGRESSION (£2.99) and our new NOTION App (£10.49) which was launched in December 2011. With well over 1,000 users just in the UK, our iPad Apps have already reached No.5 in the UK Top Music iPad Apps!

Where we differ from other notation companies is from the points mentioned earlier - particularly in how easy it is to use NOTION3. We are also the only company to have an iPad App - the beauty of which is that the basic interface is the same for the full programme so no additional learning is required. It is also worth noting that you can now also bring any Sibelius or Finale file into (and out of) NOTION programmes.
