Leonora Davies

Improving Musical Transition

Leonora Davies has taught at both primary and secondary phases and was the Inspector for Music and Music Services in the London Borough of Haringey where she worked for 13 years. She now works as a freelance music education consultant.

She was Chair of the National Association of Music Educators and the Music Education Council, and a member of the Music Manifesto Steering Group.

Publications include Take Note, Making Musical Connections, Music Works published by the BBC, and Group Music Teaching in Practice published by Faber Music.

She is a mentor for the Regional and National Festivals for Music for Youth and was a workshop leader and mentor for KS2 Music CPD programme with Trinity/Guildhall OU. She was a Vocal Force advisor for Sing Up and wrote the teacher’s notes for many of the songs on their website.

She made a guest appearance in the BBC series The Choir with Gareth Malone.

She is currently working with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation on the Musical Bridges programme.

She was awarded an MBE for services to education in 2003.
