James Dickinson read music at Oxford University at Michael Gove's old college, Lady Margaret Hall!
He began his professional career teaching and playing the French horn as well as holding positions as orchestral manager for a number of orchestras including the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He later worked as a Studio Manager in a Recording and Post-Production Studio before leaving music and spending five years working in IT, becoming Marketing Director of two successful software companies.
James brought this corporate experience back to music education when he was appointed Projects and Actvities Manager for Hertfordshire Music Service in 2003. He became Head of Service in 2007.
James is a passionate advocate of the strategic role of the Music Service within the Local Authority and is a member of Hertfordshire's Standards & Schools Effectiveness Senior Leadership Team as well as being Hertfordshire's Area Leader for Sing Up.
