Creativities in Practice: What does it mean to teach and learn music creatively?

An interactive participatory Symposium / Workshop featuring research findings and reflective journeying for music teachers and researchers.

In this session we will outline strategies to support cutting-edge practice at the forefront of teaching music creatively. Underpinned by theory and research, it will offer informed and practical support to practising teachers who want to develop their teaching skills in primary and secondary schools, teaching studios, higher music education and industry.

The session begins with illustrative examples of creativities in practice. We will then examine the core elements of creative practice in relation to developing imaginatively engaged music makers, creators, thinkers, listeners and consumers.

Activities and strategies to explore and reflect on the principles that inform your own creativities and creative practice and the processes that embed creative approaches to teaching and learning music will be explored.
